In 1986, Jacques Cousteau named the Sea of Cortez the world’s aquarium. Cabo Pulmo is located northeast of the main tourist zones of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo and is home to over 800 species including giant manta rays, dolphins, whale sharks, and countless fish, birds, and marine invertebrates. An eight finger live coral reef is located here and offers a fascinating view into one of the world’s most diverse and pristine marine environments. The reef system is the northernmost coral reef in the Eastern Pacific with 10 species of sea fans and branched corals and 12 stony corals.
