On January 12, 2021, the CDC announced a new requirement for a negative COVID-19 test for inbound travelers to the United States, but don’t cancel your Cabo trip just yet! The CDC Covid-19 Testing Requirement will only guarantee that more safety protocols are set in place for the best interest of the tourist.

“Per Rodrigo Esponda, President of FITURCA, (Fideicomiso de Turismo de Los Cabos), on Cabo Mil today, the US will now accept the fast antigen test. Kiosks will be put up around all the tourist areas and also there will be one at the airport for last minute tests. They only take about an hour. Documents will be in English, and the cost will be somewhere between $30 and $50 US. This is preliminary info – Press release coming soon and more info in next couple of days. FITURCA is comprised of the hotel association, timeshare association, local government and financing. They aren’t going to lose millions and millions of dollars of tourist income. Trust private enterprise.”

Per the CDC, beginning January 26, 2021 (CDC Press Release):
“Air passengers are required to get a viral test (a test for current infection) within the 3 days before their flight to the U.S. departs, and provide written documentation of their laboratory test result (paper or electronic copy) to the airline or provide documentation of having recovered from COVID-19. Airlines must confirm the negative test result for all passengers or documentation of recovery before they board. If a passenger does not provide documentation of a negative test or recovery, or chooses not to take a test, the airline must deny boarding to the passenger.”

What are my travel options? With traveling plans coming to a halt to limit the COVID-19 spread, this has put a temporary panic on current vacation planning and luxury vacation rentals.  Although there are no issues in Cabo San Lucas currently with no mandated restrictions on traveling, new developments are occurring daily, so we realize the need to be flexible during these uncertain times. 

If you have any concerns about future travels or your current reservation, be rest assured we are available to provide you with some peace of mind. We are willing to work with our clients as the need arises on rescheduling your travel plans. If you need to cancel your trip, our recommendation is that you reschedule and book new dates while there are available openings. After all this passes, there will be limited available dates because of many rescheduled bookings. We will also consider full refunds depending on the current CDC government-issued traveling mandates.

Temporary Cancellation Policy Amendment

Our temporary, amended cancellation policy is valid for new reservations created in March-April for dates that are booked after April 30. We will allow guests to reschedule their stay any time prior to arrival. Our villa guests that are unable to travel due to COVID-19 travel restrictions will have the opportunity to reschedule their stay for travel within one year from the original check out date (at the same property for the same number of nights and rate per availability).
